Biomechanical Assessments
Biomechanical assessments look at the link between the foot function and pain. Common biomechanical problems include stiffness in the metatarsalgia (pain in the ball of the foot), plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, knee, hip and lower back pain. We treat kids and adults with sports pain, exercise pain, morning pain, and people with fallen arches, high arches and knock knees.
Podiatric biomechanics can be especially useful for chronic and recurring pains. Our patients are often recommended to see a podiatrist by physiotherapists, osteopaths and orthopaedic surgeons responsible for their care.
Preparation
Ask for a Biomechanics assessment. This will last up to one hour. Bring a tight fitting Tshirt and shorts. We need to see your knees, so if you haven't got any shorts, bring the kind of trousers you can roll up above your knee. Please also bring pair of regular shoes and shoes for all your sports. Bring the shoes you were wearing when you injured yourself and any old orthoses you may have had.
