Biomechanical Assessments Continued...
Preparation
Ask for a Biomechanics assessment. This will last up to one hour. Bring a tight fitting Tshirt and shorts. We need to see your knees, so if you haven't got any shorts, bring the kind of trousers you can roll up above your knee. Please also bring pair of regular shoes and shoes for all your sports. Bring the shoes you were wearing when you injured yourself and any old orthoses you may have had.
What to expect
We compare your foot and structure during gait, standing and lying. This shows us how the feet change with different pressures. We are very interested in how your foot posture affects your back and the alignment of your pelvis.
Using video gait analysis, we compare the foot strike and position throughout your stride with your knee, leg and lower back movements. This comparison shows up abnormal movement causing stress and strain in the bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Treatments
We treat biomechanical problems using gait re-education, more appropriate footwear, and foot orthoses. We can customise pre-fabricated orthoses for you, or have them made from scratch if we need something strong and durable.
