Older People
It might not have caught up with you and perhaps it never will, but old age sometimes results in a few special foot needs.
Older people sometimes need a little TLC, a bit of extra help looking after their feet. Older nails can become hard to reach and difficult to cut. Older skin can develop pressure areas on the toes and soles. Hard skin and corns grow over these areas, and they need to be removed to prevent skin breakdown. The correct footwear helps to stop them returning, and we sell a range of shoes suitable for problem feet
Older feet may develop fallen arches, making you unsteady as you walk. We can custom make make insoles and orthoses to support the feet, and we sell insoles or or prescribe orthoses to support the arches.
Preparation
Decide what type of appointment you need and look at the various pages of this website if you need more information. Or ask our receptionist. All new patients book a standard 30 min appointment. Just you, easy-to-remove socks and shoes, and no nail varnish!
What to expect
On your first appointment, we take a few minutes to run through a health questionnaire to get details of any medical conditions which may be relevant, and a history of your foot problems. The treatment is normally completed on this appointment – unless your feet need a lot of work. We give you advice that may prevent the problem re-occuring. If there are a few minutes left, we give you foot massage with Trevano organic foot oils or creams.
Follow Up
We can book your follow on appointment as you leave, arrange for a reminder, or just call us when their feet need attention. You can ask for appointments at 30 minutes for a full treatment, or 15 minutes if a full treatment is not needed.
